Does the bandeau top stay in place?

It is designed to sit close across the bust rather than hang loose, and the ruched body helps keep the shape snug. It does not have the structure of a boned corset dress, so the cleanest finish usually comes with a strapless or adhesive bra if you want extra support.

How short is the hem and does the split sit high?

This is a true mini. The supplied length is 63-67 cm across S-L, and the side drape rises higher on the ruched side when you sit or walk, as shown in the seated product shots. If you want a little more coverage, go up a size.

Is any part of the skirt see-through?

The main body appears opaque, while the angled outer hem has a lighter, semi-sheer finish that gives the dress more movement. You get the look of a softer layered edge rather than a fully transparent skirt.
