Are the lighter colours see-through?

The ribbed knit looks more opaque than a fine lightweight jumper, which helps the White and Beige shades feel better covered. In strong daylight, neutral underwear will still give the cleanest finish.

Does the roll neck feel bulky under a coat?

No. The neck has a soft fold rather than a stiff funnel shape, so it sits neatly under wool coats and padded jackets while still giving proper coverage around the neck.
