Is the fabric stretchy?

No. This is a woven polyester top with drape rather than jersey stretch, so it will hang smoothly but will not cling or rebound like a T-shirt fabric.

How noticeable are the side splits?

They are a key part of the design rather than a small vent. The gold-tone button trim and deep opening create movement and look best styled over fitted trousers or leggings so the layered shape shows properly.
